ads for junk food & alcohol banned?

junk food's effects are just as bad apart from drunken behaviour causing road accidents as alcohol and smoking aren't they so why aren't adverts for these products banend like the ciggarette ads were?

Learning to live a healthy lifestyle and eat a balanced diet is all about self control. Why should the rest of us, who like a chocolate bar or a packet of crisps once in a while, suffer because those who are overweight can't keep their mouth shut?

well in that case people who smoke should be able to give up even if there are tempting adverts but the government said no and banned them!

Well id say that cancer and cirrohsis of the liver are a lot more serious and aggressive then slowly ballooning in weight over the period of many years.

yeah but obbesisty can give you dieases aswell which are horrible aswell.

But smoking is only good for one thing, killing people. That's why adverts for them are banned. Snacks can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet, which is why adverts for them shouldn't be banned.

what about alcohol then. a small glass a day is okish but many people drink more than that in one go.

nix-j-c,the other day on the news they said they now have new evidence to show that having a cuople of drinks a day can be more dangerous then binge drinking!

Anyone who is going to smoke, drink excessively or eat junk food, will still do so, regardless of whether the product is advertised !
How many times have you seen something advertised & thought "Oh, I must get/buy/try that" ??

Banning adverts for alcohol may inadvertently have a negative effect on the food industry as there are people who can responsibly enjoy a glass of wine of a pint of beer with their meal. Again, smoking only causes to serve health problems; there any no positive ways of enjoying smoking.
