hi there my partner was in a yo prison but his now turned 18 yrs old so he was moved from warren hill to chelmsford, which is a mans prison. his been in prison for 11 mouths now and has always been a cat C his wanting to go to hollesley bay open prison but has to be a cat D how dose he go about this. he got 3yrs in prison on 15th december last year and has done really well so far. most prisoners i hear never go down to a cat D can you help as to what we can do please thank you

Category C prisoners are those who cannot be trusted in open conditions but who are unlikely to try to escape.
Category D prisoners are those who can be trusted not to try to escape, and can be trusted within an open prison.

In short, depending on the crime, there is nothing you can do, but wait for a date of release. Following this I hope your partner has retrained and you can build a better life together.
