Product of the Year

How come in January you get products claiming to be the product of the year 2009? What happens if they invent one that is twice as good in June. Surely the product of the year should be decided in December?

Well im no expert (no really, im not!) But i'm sure that any new product goes through years of testing before it's launched to the consumer market anyway. So they'll know well in advance what's coming out and when.

Of course, I could be wrong- I usually am!
