I'm going to be returning to England this summer after living in Spain and want to take my dog with me. I will be returning at the end of June but Benji can't follow until the mandatory 6 months after his rabies blood test date is up in August. He will be staying with a good friend until then. I have been looking into pet courier services and wondered whether anyone knows of any particularly good or particularly bad ones? One which seems to be a good price and, more importantly, with dates to suit me and Benji is "Pets Euro Travel". Anyone used/heard of this company? All these websites have 'testimonials' from previous clients but just wondered if anyone on here had any experience with these types of services?

Also, is it normal to pay for the service BEFORE they've delivered your dog? I'm reluctant to pay until I've got my baby safely back in my arms!
Any advice anyone has would be great
Many thanks!

I will try and find out for you, as I know a few breeders that have used couriers from Europe to the UK.
If he hasn't grown much can you just not post him?

Sorry - that was bad of me. ;-)

I hope it goes well - I worry when travelling to the vet with Frankie and his sister Merlin.

Thanks Jules77, that would be great. They all look wonderful from their testimonies on thier websites but the cynic in me is telling me not to trust everything I read! I'd much rather go with a company that comes recommended.

And Wolf63, it would definitely be the cheaper option to pop him in the postbox!haha. I'm sure it will go well, I'm just paranoid!

Thanks guys
My friend just reminded me that she used these people to send a dog back to Denmark, and they were excellent.

I have had a recommendation to use this person, he comes to the UK twice a week and is very reasonable.

Hello, we are pet couriers, http://www.5starexecutive.co.uk
We have a testimonials page but all our previous clients have stated they would be delighted to provide references. We alos have a facebook page with contains testimonials, facebook enables us to have refernces and feedback and also proves the existence of real clients. We would always advise to ask for references and also look for real experience in long distance road travel. Ensure the courier is licensed by DEFRA as it is illegal to transport pets / animals / livestock in UK/EU without a license from DEFRA. Also be aware of "pet travel agents" who are just middle men who use the service of companies like us but charge a commission for their work (or lack of).
We are happy to prvide advice (free of charge of course) to anyone who is thinking about transporting their beloved pets by road throughout the UK / EU. Best Regards, Paul Kehoe, 5 Star Executive: Luxury Pet Transport Service. http://www.5starexecutive.co.uk
