For everyone who gave me encouragement when we adopted Coco - it's a year to the day since we got her, she'd been neglected and abused and was really hard work. She'd run away as soon as the door opened and ate almost everything she could find. She's been spoiled today as we take it to be her 2nd birthday. She truely is the dearest dog and has settled more than we could ever have hoped for.
If anyone is thinking of adopting a pet I say 'go on and do it!'

That is lovely to hear, well done you Coco is a lucky pet.
what a lovely thing to post masma -glad the adoption worked well and humans and dog are delighted with each other! have a long and happy time together.
How lovely to read this, Avril ☺ I am wondering who is the luckier being here, Coco or you and family? Did you get her a custom-made cushion for her window seat? That year passe very quickly! Please give her a hug and kiss from me ♥
That's lovely, masma - lucky Coco!

i think coco is a very lucky dog :)
I adopted a five year old Lab/GSD that was so terrified of people that he pulled his testicles back into his abdomen when any humans went near him. He was a total wreck and apart from me was a bit scared of everyone.

I remember the first time that I saw him walking (strutting) along with his tail held high and a look of mischief on his face. But it takes a long time to undo what some b**t*rds do to our little furry friends.

I hope that Coco has a long and happy life.

Thank you all for your lovely messages... No Viv she doesn't have a cushion for the window sill - she's so funny laying there though, she's gotten so big that unless she keeps one foot on the arm of the sofa she wobbles off!
I do think we're the lucky ones, she's bought so much love and comfort at a time when we needed it.
masma, i hope things have improved for you lately :)
Big Sis's lurcher pup continues to paint her special nose-art on the big picture window. It looks like a Chinese signwriter has been there. I spent the weekend with them and there were clean covers on the sofas and cushions, but not for long. Love a wet weekend there. I think the pup did the design for the paw-printed fleece blankets in petshops, lol. Big Sis said upon my arrival 'I changed the sheets on your bed, but the pup slept in there last night'. You could not get cross with her if you tried :o)

The pup - not Big Sis! But Sis is good too x

Anne... things are ok at the moment, we had a few hairy moments a while ago but I'm burying my head in the sand and hoping they don't come back. Thank you for asking.
Viv... I know just how your sister feels, tell her I keep a spray bottle with a mix of vinegar and water in it - very handy for getting rid of that chinese writing ;-) We had my brother and sister-in-law to stay last week, neither of them are 'dog people', they had the shock of thier lives when Coco got into bed with them during the night!
Congratulations masma, and a big hug for Coco from my rescue Lab/Collie, who also loves to do neighbourhood watch from the window seat.
Rescue dogs are so rewarding.
This is a lovely story. I'm so glad it has worked out well. She's a lucky dog!
