is frontline plus for cats........

any better than normal frontline?. Our Persian keeps getting infested despite being frontlined every month. Our moggy seems to be ok. The plus is considerably more expensive so before I buy any can anyone tell me if they have used it, and if its any good.

Not used Frontline plus but ordinary Frontline doesn't seem to be working at all - there have been several posts about it here. I changed to Stronghold for mine and that's cleared up the flea problem. You do need to treat the house with a spray as well if the cat has fleas as it's almost certain that there will be fleas in the house. A spray, like R.I.P., from the vet should do the trick

Thanks bensmum, I'll give that a try. We sprayed the house but I think the cats are re infecting. My Mum looked after them for two weeks when we went away and she is infested as well. Never had this problem before, it's driving us up the wall.

I recently had to take my cat to the vet for fleas and she recommended Advocate (and dicussed Stronghold as an alternative). She said there was some suggestion that Frontline wasn't as effective as it used to be as the fleas have developed a resistance to it. They're a pain in the bum fleas though, my girl was scratching herself raw.

Try Advantage first, I found Frontline wasn't working so well, as other people have said. This application of Advantage (from vet) on my cat seems to have worked and I sprayed the carpets with Johnson's 4Fleas household spray. Good luck as it's horrible having an infestation, for us and the poor cat!

shiznit I had the same problem with FL, fleas have become immune to it. As bensmum says Stronghold is good and Advocate is even better though a little more expensive. Your cats will keep getting re-infested so you do need to bomb your houses with R.I.P. Pay particular attention to their sleeping areas. It took me 3/4 weeks before my home was clear again.

make sure you put a spray of RIP in the vacuum cleaner bag or dust catcher as well.

How come you need a prescription for both Advocate and Stronghold?, never had to bother with frontline before?

I think the difference with Frontline Plus is that it kills the eggs as well whereas Frontline just kills the fleas. It works by going into the cat`s oil glands and spreading around the skin. I don`t know anything about the other brands but I think they actually go into the cat`s bloodstream. When someone who isn`t a vet applies systemic drugs themselves, there is always a chance they won`t do it that efficently (that has happened with farmers administering drugs to their animals). Next thing you know, you`ve got drug resistent bugs. If Frontline doesn`t work, it`s probably because it`s quite difficult to get the whole lot onto the skin and not the fur. When that happens, the cat doesn`t get the full dose.

Hmmmn that would make sense with the persian. Has anyone used 4 Fleas Cat Tablets, they have good reviews on Pets at Home. I'm trying to avoid having to trail down to our vets with both cats, they hate going in the car and are always sick for a few days afterwards.

Someone mentioned Advantage. I've seen it on Viovets,and it's way cheaper than Frontline. Is it any good?

You can get Frontline online without a prescription anyway.
