Its a cat.... they do this sort of thing just block it off they get little feline obsessions unless you want your chimney swept then just get a ladder and retrieve it from the roof

Why does my cat keep wanting to look in the kitchen cupboard, the cupboard under the stairs, the airing cupboard, that little area under the spare bed with sliding doors, ..........?

Mine does the same but only when he is scared - like if someone he doesn't know comes in the house, he's a real fraidy cat. We solved it by covering the fireplace.

They are little monsters who like to search everywhere.

I hate it when I get up in the morning and Frankie has opened every door in the house. Some of the cupboards are empty so I have no idea what he is looking for. I put child-proof locks on some of the cupboards but over time he has managed to break these.

Some times he tries to open the fridge but he hasn't managed it yet.

Mine has a thing about the chimney too. He tends to shoot up it when I'm cleaning the fire if I'm not careful. He'll try and play with anything he can get his claws round. Still a kitten really, only 10 months old.
