Hi Everyone, hoping some of you remember Rufus my rescue Shih Tzu. Well he has been with us a year now and he has progressed fine. He is still fairly timid with strangers but will let them pat him now. He is happy to stay with us in the lounge instead of disappearing under the table and best of all really, I can now groom him all over apart from his face which is still a little difficult but we are getting there. He still won't take food from anyone's hand and it all has to go on a plate or floor. Another big success was teaching him to walk, first with a harness on, and then about four months ago, I tried him out on the lead and he went like a lamb as long as I didn't restrict him too much. Now he puts my other dog to shame as he walks and trots beautifully on the collar. We sit on the settee together and he puts his head on my lap and looks at me with his lovely big brown eyes as if to say thank you for having me. He really has turned out lovely in every way, he is a beautiful dog. We all love him dearly.
Aw, I love a happy ending to a rescue story! Heard from two of mine this weekend, both now settled in their new homes after being very difficult ones to find homes for. Got an offer of a home for two together that came in together too, so fingers crossed they can stay with each other. Taking on a rescue is not always an easy ride, but its sure satisfying when they eventually come round.
