Ok this should go in Animals and Nature but since most people gather here I'll ask it here.
I have noticed that with both my present and late ginger cats, they are obsessed with food, you open a can, foil tray or rattle a bowl or even set foot in the kitchen. Is it just a ginger cat thing or what as I have never seen my other cats like this or any other cat?
Face it kiddo. Any ginger cat living in this house isn't truly a cat. More of a stomach on 4 paws using a cat as a life support system! Molly, my cat, getting on, entitled to grumps!
It's not just cats, Max my late GSD would lay about in the sun right out side the door and if you called for him he would just ignore me till I fetched him when he'd give me that "I didn't hear you" look. open a packet of biscuits and he hear you at a hundred yards.
LOL that is quite funny boo. I just wondered as thought it was a little odd but if your cat does it too and she isn't ginger then it must be a cat thing
My dog is ginger and he has a profound appreciation for food. I've always attributed it to his early days wandering the streets of the Costa Blanca begging for scraps.
No, i had a ginger cat.He was a beautiful cat but no matter what i offered him he would eat very little at a time. When i bought those square metal trays of food for him, i would be really pleased if he even ate half of it at a time. He was like this with all food.
My friend with a black and white cat said hers often used to miaow for food and gobble it straight up.I often wished mine would have done.
my saavik was the same.
i'd not see her for hours, but as soon as i entered the kitchen she would materialise right at my feet .. tail vertical, and meewing for food
Thanks guys, some interesting tales of cats and food and doggies too.
My cat Max (avatar) will walk sidey ways when he wants feeding its quite funny lol
Three gingers here, dad, daugher, and daughter, all obsorbed in grub, They only have to here the can opener clamping, they are there, beans, spagetti, I have to open the tuna........ it's a guilt trip thing, with there eyes.
A general cat thing I think. It freaks me out the way they can just appear as if they have teleported or something! Similar with disappearing though.
Mish claws up the little mat under her foodbowls and just keeps pulling it up and up so it makes a racket to make her point.
Her other cunning trick is to be so under my feet that I am likely to trip over her at some point, feel bad and end up feeding her to apologise...hmmm...
I am constantly falling over my Henry, but I know what you mean Jenna. Don't talk to me about disappearing cats - the cat in the avatar escaped and was missing for 7 hours the other day, he got out a first floor window and want walkies >:(
Our Black Spot went missing in the week, he spends time next door but not like him - when he came back, he'd been fighting, big lump on his head and fur missing. He must have been hiding up, until he felt up to facing us.
