Would one of the animal charities, like the Assissi Animal Sanctuary here in NI, take it if it came with a fair sized cash donation?
The RSPCA, who eventually put dogs down if they're not rehomed, isn't an option.
If you ring the local paper they will know of any animal rescue centres in the area.
They may even be willing to do an article to help you find a home for the dog.X
Good luck.
The smaller animal rescues are usually very helpful, and don't generally put animals down. I would never ever go to the RSPCA. X
What sort of dog is it? If its is a purebred then there are breed specific rescues who will take it. If its is a non purebred then you could try these people: http://www.7thheaven.org.uk/
As far as i know sandy,Assissi would do anything rather than put an animal down. They would be pleased to have donations of food, blankets litter etc just as much as money. It's why a woman I know, donates to them and not RSPCA. Good luck
How refreshing to hear a dog called a mongrel! Makes a change from all the stupid designer names they are given - just been browsing the Pets4Homes ads online and there are more Cockapoos, Labradoodles, Jugs, Jackawowas etc than any purebreds, and no mongrels!
You could try The Cinnamon Trust, haven't got their address at the moment, but they're based in Hayle, Cornwall. They specialise in helping elderly and infirm people with their pets, rehoming, fostering and walking. I'm sure they'd help.
