Well my wee dog has been not himself for about 2 weeks now - I do have an appointment for vet on Monday - have watched him this past two days and have realised he is a bit swelled ie fat but thought it was not getting out every day as I have been unwell myself. Anyway he has become withdrawn and quiet - my brother took him out for an hour and half this morn and he came back choking for a drink but I watched him and he could not drink the water and just stuck his paws into water to cool down - also realised the yard was not covered in his
p ss - usually the yard is like a river. Cant wait to get to vets - anybody know would it be either his kidneys or bladder. Thanks - he is eating his food but completely different wee personality.

Personally Conn, I'd get him to the vets now, Monday is 3 days away.

thanks rocky but that was the quickest appointment i could get.
Tell them it's an emergency, they will see you I'm sure.
Question Author
they asked me all about his sickness -this is first time with vet (this vet) so the wee recep said that it was about the quickest. you have me worried rocky.
Ring the vets again and tell them what is wrong. You do need to get him there as soon as possible
I agree, tell them its an emergency.
Like rocky says...get him an emergency appointment.
Conn if he's not drinking that's a big problem.
Try another vet if they won't see you.

Hi guys to all who replied - got another vet who took him right away - they sedated him and took blood tests and found two lumps in his throat. Have to bring him back on Monday for biopsies - so it will be either two things - thyroid or tumours. Sad day for me if it is tumours. Thanks
Try not to worry xx
I'm glad you got him seen. Let's hope it's o.k.
Glad you took him Conn, you're 3 days ahead of where you would be had you waited. Try not to worry, xx

My fingers will be crossed fo him.
Can you get to a RSPCA or PDSA clinic they will see dogs without and appointment
You did the right thing, you spotted the signs of him not well, you have had him looked at today, good luck on monday, x
I know that the weekend will be hard for you and the wee lad. At least you were able to see the signs that all was not well and that you managed to work out that there is something wrong with your little furry family.

I wish that I could reassure you that all will be well - but life isn't like that.

Thinking of both of you this weekend

How is your little dog now ?
Connemmara

my thoughts go out to you, and your poorly dog
Question Author
Well I had to laugh because vet gave me a syringe to give him orally of painkillers but no way he run away when he seen it so I did think they (vet) said even I could put it in his food so I have and today he has drunk some water for the first time since I noticed. Having said that he is very much a house dog but stays in the back and just came in twice for a nosy round then went out again - I am letting him do his own thing. Will post you re biopsies on Monday. Thanks for your interest.
Any news connemmara, when you get a chance, please post, how is the little dog? X
