Dog Ear Infection

On monday evening i noticed my dog had what looked like a very dirty ear inside so i cleaned it a bit with a wet cotton wool ball which he let me do with no fuss and then on tuesday when i woke up his ear was limp and was slightly dirty again and this morning it is now full of what looks like blood and a bit of gunky green/white stuff. He's not in obvious pain or crying or anything but it is obviously a bit sore as he is a bit funny about me touching it. Other than this is he is absolutely fine still eating and drinking and playing with the other dog. I will be making a vets appointment if it hasn't started to clear up by this evening but just wondered if anyone knew of anything i could do to clean it out a little bit or make him feel a bit more comfortable http://s849.photobucket.com/user/waterlocke22/media/IMG_00000516_zps3e5fe920.jpg.html?filters[user]=137227626&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0 my other dog is fine her ears are completely clean no problems at all

It won't clear up, make the vet appointment now and get it sorted.
He will need antibiotics.
Well, you have started well..........clean the ear every 4 hours throughout the day and if you have any antibiotic drops (still in expiry date) then use them every 4 hours after cleaning out the ear.
By the time that you read this.........you will have seen the vet...;-)
It sounds like ear mites and you need to see the vet.
A reddish-brown discharge in the ears suggest ear-mites, as Tilly says. His ears probably smell as well.

Thanks guys am regularly cleaning ear out and after advice from vet this morning booked appointment but it's not til Friday so will just keep cleaning his ear myself until then and hopefully he's back to normal soon :)
Did the vet tell you what to clean his ears with?

Nope she didn't even say to clean it but it's quite smelly and my other dog is being a bit of a pest around it so I've just been cleaning it with some lukewarm water on a cotton wool ball.
Just make sure you don't make it more sore . It will soon clear up with the right treatment.
Could it be an abcess that has burst? If the ear is limp maybe he has been bitten or cut it on something. Wash out with cotton wool dipped in warm salt water.
