Why Do People Feed Other Peoples Cats?
Oh I am so annoyed. For weeks now our cat has been off her food. I've been trying to tempt her with her favourite things but just the odd half-hearted crunch or licking off of gravy from her whiskas lick and chew. She's getting on a bit and although not losing weight looked a bit dull in her coat so I took her to the Vets and she checked out ok. The vet asked if someone else could have been feeding her -this never crossed my mind so she suggested writing 'do not feed' on her collar. I did that a couple of days ago and bingo -she's started eating her food again. Why oh why do people feel the need to feed random cats? Its not like she looks like a stray , she's plumpish, she has a collar and a tag with her name and my mobile number on it. For heavens sake I wish people would mind their own business.

ok -if my cat got lost all the person finding her would hopefully ring the number on her collar. Secondly, the fact I wrote 'do not feed' on her collar and she stopped getting food immediately would indicate she had been fed intentionally, and thirdly if you have not got an animal don't feed other peoples! Would any childless couple grab a kiddie off the street to give it a slap up meal?
I've got 2 cats near me and the owner (who is a bit of a drinker) doesn't feed them much, so the cats scrounge from everybody in the street. One of them even stole a piece of bread from a neighbour's kitchen not so long ago. People who can't look after their animals shouldn't have them. So it's not always a case of people minding their own business, but a case of not wanting to see skinny cats who are desperate for food.
