15 Year Old Dog With Arthritis
7 Answers
My 15 year old terrier was at the vets last week for her annual booster injection and the vet also gave her an injection for her painful joints. She was fine for a week but now has the following symptoms
Limping very badly
Reluctance to walk or jump onto the sofa
Difficulty rising from a resting position
Difficulty finding a comfortable resting position
Crying or whimpering for no apparent reason.
Is there any way we can ease the pain for her ? I'm scared that if I take her back to the vet, they will say she should be put to sleep but I don't want her to be in pain.

I took Daisy to the vet yesterday and he diagnosed congestive heart failure and arthriisand thought that with all her various problems it has come to a crossroads, decision making time. He has prescribed vetmedin, Frusedale and Rimadyl tablets. So far , she will not have anything to do with them. I've wrapped them in chicken, tuna etc but she just eats the meat and spits out the tablet .If she will not take the medicine then I shall just keep her as comfortable as I can and hope that she slips away quietly; if I thought that she was in pain then I shall take her back to the vet. Thanks again for your advice.
So sorry to hear this, lass. I wonder if your vet would prescribe liquid medication for the arthritis - my cat has an arthritic shoulder and he has a dose of Liquid Loxicom for cats every day, I just squirt it into his mouth. http:// www.pet drugson line.co .uk/pre scripti ons/l/l oxicom- oral-su spensio n-for-d ogs
