some of you will know that we took on Bruno
http://tinypic.com/r/35c4m5w/9
as a rescue just over 4 weeks ago.
He really hasn't put a paw wrong in that time, apart from one thing, over the last two weeks once it starts to get light, he is so keen to see us if he hears the slightest movement he's bouncing up and down behind the dog-gate and barking a 'welcome'
We know not to respond to this as he will think it works as a wake up call, and do it again, and again.
It's a problem we've not had to deal with before, any ideas, thanks.
Rodger, the other Staffie rescue just lays in his bed and looks bored with the whole thing.
TIA.

Question Author

He won't wear slippers
You mean he doesn't sleep on the bed with you ?? What's this world coming to??
Question Author

Noooooooo!
Does he need a pee?
Let him nearer.
lol...poor Bruno...he just wants to feel your lurrrrve !!....can't he go in a basket in your bedroom ?...then he wont get separation anxiety and bounce in the mornings !!
Question Author

Hi woof, we give him 15-20 mins after he shuts up, then I get up like nothings happened, he'll often go another ½ hr before going out even if the door is open.
Question Author

Tilly the gate is about 4 ft from the bedroom door, any nearer and he'll be sharing with us.
Is there a way of distracting him when he starts barking - maybe use a remote to put something on/off or dial a phone.

Question Author

Worth a try Wolf, thanks, I'll take my Mobile to bed tonight.
Let him sleep in the bedroom.
Question Author

He let himself into the bedroom before we changed the dog-gate for a taller one. Head under bottom of quilt, straight up the middle of the bed between us (obviously done it before) then we have Roger as well, best will in the World it's not going to happen.
OK, shut the bedroom door.
radio on ?? ..radio 4 or LBC ..talk radio..perhaps voices will keep him calm ??
Question Author

News Channel on in kitchen all night, so light and sound.
In that case buy earplugs and be brave and stick it out until 'getting up time' - he'll get there in the end.
Question Author

Yeah, he's done incredibly well for 4 weeks, just looking for any advice that might be going, one thing for sure, he's staying.
