Any Chappie Feeders Out There?

I've just started feeding my 12 year old Lab on Chappie. He loves it and I love it as he is now as regular and normal in the bottom department, than he's ever been.

My question is: how much do I feed him? The instructions on the tin, (1.26Kg) says a whole tin!!! This seems an awful lot, even for his weight of 31kgs.

I've been giving him a third of a large tin with some mixer for each meal.

Any help would be appreciated.

I keep Chappie in for when the labs have upset stomachs as the vet says it is the same as the food they sell at a fraction of the price!! For a 30kilo dog I give half a 400g tin twice a day with a cup of mixer

never fed it but I know from people who have that it has got a lot of water in it. I would suggest that you watch your dogs weight and adjust feeding to keep him in the right place weight and shape wise. I have got two dogs who are brothers. One is quite square built and looks podgy beside his brother till you put your hands on him. He is never still and a very busy boy. His brother is a real skinny malinky and his favourite thing is sleep. He has to have about a quarter more food than his bro to keep condition on him.
Webbox sausage for mine..so easy to open & burn plastic cover. No tins to attract flies

Thanks, but I don't want him to be hungry if I'm not givimg him enough.
Chrissa, in my experience, dogs are always hungry.

Really, Islay? That seems an awful lot, when I would have just given him one can of meat and mixer daily, before. It falls into line with what is advised on the can though.

Thank you very much.

Just realised I read your answer wrongly, Islay. Duh.

That's not so much. Cheers.
Not a Chappie feeder but always had a couple of tins of the chicken variety in case of upset tums. Worked very well.

It has worked wonders for my, Lab. He also seems a lot happier in himself, bless him.
Yes Chrissa it is slightly less than the recommended amount but this way they still get their treats 3 times a day without the weight gain. As you know its a balancing act with labs!
I had a lovely dog called Chappie once and he adored Chappie dog food. He was smaller than a lab, probably collie size and he had a tin a day with mixer, but spread over two meals.
No matter what the food type, we always monitor the dogs weight and appearance and will change quantities to suit.

I wish everyone did that Ratter, there are so many overweight dogs about.
Our dog has refused all food so far today, might be because the temperature is 32, and I don't feel very hungry myself.
I agree Ratter, if I followed the instructions the hounds would be eating a couple of tins each a day! They like their treats so I just reduce the food
