It is the Canine Parvovirus that causes Parvo (ie a virus!)

Highly contagious and very easily spread from dog to dog often by touch or via owners. It can survive relatively easily in the environment.

Often affecting puppies and certain breeds are slightly more susceptable.

Early and good vaccination will endeavour to protect animals but it is a disease still seen all too commonly and may often prove fatal.
