When i go away I rely on a couple of good friends to look after one parrot and the other goes to his previous owner. However there are often times when I can't go away because my parrot's carers will be away and parrots aren't as easy to look after as a dog so can't just go to anyone. What do other people do with their parrots when they go on holiday please?

Our local bird centre offers a holiday boarding facility.

Try yellow pages and ring round a few.
Hi,we have 2 large aviarys with budgies and cockatiels in we also have the same birds in the house,as our aviarys have electric in,they have radios on 24/7 and lights on in the eve for 2 hrs when it gets dusk and they have a water bath in the flights so we have a friend come and just top up the food and change the water every 2 days and they are ok.We also have an 11yr GSD girl who needs meds and this yr we were very fortunate that our son moved in to look after her. Each yr is different so we do what we can when its neccessary,.
In some area's there are people who are happy to live in your home.............not sure if I could do that but if you know someone wo has done it before then thats always an option aswell as doing what the first reply suggested.Regards.

Thank you for your help. Will probably try a bird centre as I don't fancy giving over my house. Was also thinking of Christmas, New year and other Bank Holidays as difficult times so the BC would probably be best for that period. Thanks.
We have a large garden centre near us which has its own pet centre and we occasionally notice that they have temporary boarders in there. It also might be worth phoning some local vets to see if they know of any animal boarding facilities.
