Can anyone please help. We bought two rabbits last August for my daughter and son from Pets at Home. We bought two males as we did not want any wee ones. To My total shock this morning while cleaning out the rabbits was i found a dead baby rabbit. I totally was in shock as one we thought we had tw0 males and two i felt so helpless It has totally knocked me for six. We do not know what to do. My husband contacted Pets at Home even though we had a member of staff say they were males and the manager as well at the time of purchase they say that it is not there fault. Please Help we do not know which is the Female. Also the rabbits r putting rabbit fur on their bedding about two inches thick. Why Many thanks

Hi, I think a visit to the vets is called for.....well it is if you want to keep them both..... I believe male castration is easier than female neutering. Be quick if you don't want more baby bunnies.

Hi, If you want to find out which one is which then the only way is to look at the genitals. Slight pressure at either side of the genital opening should bring the genitals in to view. The male should be pretty easy to distinguish.

When the rabbits are building a nest they do tend to pull out there fur to line the nest with.

I think you should take both rabbits to the vets, in any event which ever one turns out to be female, it may need some vetinary attention if its given birth. I think most pet shops will say that they dont provide any guarantees as to the sex of the animals especially if they are sold quite young and have not reached sexual maturity.

Hi - I had rabbits for many years and the most recent ones I bought were also from Pets At Home. Depending on the ages of the rabbits when bought, you cannot always tell their sex. My female rabbit ended up having just the one baby, stillborn, and I was told by the vet that this may have happened as she was so young herself and didnt know how to look after the rabbit pup!

I would recommend castration for the male as this will also stop his spraying if he feels someone is in his terriotry where his "mate" is concerned. My poor white female was constantly receiving this "stamp" off her mate when they used to play together in the garden.
