how can you tell if a hamster is pregnant?

I only just got her, the pet store told me it was a boy but I've seen pictures and I'm pretty certain its a she!! since 'pets at home' are obviously incompetent im worried she might've been mixed in with boys (if they separate them at all) and gotten pregnant.

Also why does she pee and poo in her bedroom ( and every where else) where she stores food and sleeps? this is gross can i do anything to stop her?!
