I would invest in a crate for overnight and when she is alone. It isn't cruel as many people say, the dog will appreciate its own den. Your pup is unlikely to soil in the crate and when you let her out just put her straight in the garden for a pee and poo and praise when she does. If your dog soils in the house you can only really scold her for it if you catch her in the act otherwise she wont know why she is getting into trouble, when you do catch her at it give her a firm no and put her in the garden...she'll get the hang of soon!

At 14 weeks she is still very young, it will take time and needs patience.
As the link says if you praise her and give her the treat when she returns to you after the wee she will think that she is getting it for returning to you (not doing the wee!).

By teaching her its ok to go on the paper, you're making it harder for both her and you. She doesnt know the difference between a papered floor and a non-papered floor. I dont know why these pee-sheets are even sold!
Take her out on a lead (that the very important part!) into the garden, after she wakes up, after feeding, after playing, and when she shows any signs of wanting to go (circling or sniffing at the ground, for instance). You need to watch her to pick up her signals.
For a 14 week old puppy, Id take her out on a lead into the garden every couple of hours. Dont just let her out take her out on a lead.
When shes weeing outdoors, tell her be quick or wee-wees or whatever you want to call it, and when shes fn full flow, give her lots of praise and a treat. Get really excited about her doing it right and shell get the hang of it.
If she wees indoors, its not her fault its yours for not seeing her signs - so dont blame her. If you catch her at it indoors, pick her up with a ah-ah, put her tail between her legs, and carry her outdoors to finish on her lead. Keep praising her good behaviour but ignore the bad.
And keep doing it you need to reinforce her good behaviour. Dont assume that just because shes been doing outdoors for a day or two that you say to yourself that She understands now no need for me to keep training her. Believe me, it doesnt work!
A crate is good but dont use it as a punishment. The longest you should leave her in the create is 4hours maximum. Its unusual for a dog to mess in the same place that they sleep.

Hiya.
We didn't even GET our Collie until 14 weeks-naive of me, I wasn't very clued then! His toilet training was hell, it took us such a long time, coupled with the fact that he would also wee and poo out of anxiety when he was left alone!
14 weeks is so young, she might get the hang for a couple of days, and then go right back to square one, as has been said.
Please don't "get rid", they take such patience and a good routine (see above!!!) but it's all so worth it.
Good luck.

Get rid of the husband!! No seriously in my experience husbands are not as tollerent and teaching him to be tolerant is harder then teaching the dog where to go.
As said she will probably go every couple of hours so be on your guard and try to remind her regulally to go as La Diva says. I did not have any problems with using paper in the house as I had small children and going outside with the dog and letting it out and noticing it subtilly asking to go was hard. It was easy to stand in the kitchen and point at the paper in a shallow tray(stopped wee running all over) with baby in arms etc. Mine got hang of it real quick and was soon barking to ask me to open the door to go out. Keep persevering and be consistent and regular. All night will be a while though. Again where i liked the paper as at least it was in the right place when you got up. Good luck.
If I had a pound every time mr w wanted to get rid i would be rich.

Hello,
Our Husky Holly used to do really similare things! the back door would be wide open and she would stroll back in and take a pee behind the door!
I tryed to follow a puppy book, as it was my first dog! I used to put her on the grass and say do the toilet, when she did i would praise her and reward her with a treat. If she had an accident then i would take her to it and say "no" and immediatley put her outside again! Its a long process like the other comments have said. Its time and patience.
Holly still sometimes has accidents but normally if she is desperate or i "mess up" her routine of going out to the toilet!
Keep at it, all of a sudden it just comes to them!

Oh really? I thought you got some really helpful answers! I would have to agree with all those he suggested re-training your husband....he sounds like a dumb-ass to me. I would lay money on the fact that you spend more time cleaning up after your pup than he does! Listen to the advice given....it's all good. If you think it's not helpful....get rid of your puppy....she, atleast, deserves a chance in life away from the ignorant animals that call themselves her owner!
