Do cats 'fetch'?
My new kitten (hence all the kitten questions I keep asking on here!!) loves to fetch me a piece of rolled up paper so I can throw it for her. She then brings it back to me and waits for it to be thrown again! This can go on for an hour!!
Does this show an intelligent streak or just a kitten thing???

She would only do it with scrunched up paper though !!
Believe it or not she would like being swung round in a carrier bag too !! (only gently) I knew she liked it because when I put the bag down she`d jump straight back in and look at me as if to say go on do it again !!

I had to try this out. I took the toy that my tom, Frankie, was trying to kill and threw it across the room. He stared in me in pure disdain and cried. After a few minutes I had to go and 'fetch' th toy and hand it to my master who then got back to trying to kill it. His sister just lay on the back of the sofa watching but not moving.
Enjoy your kitten - they are fun and frustrating and very lovable.

hi emx, my cat who lived to the ripe old age of 20 ( sadly we lost her a few years ago) retrieved those little orange plastic arrowns you get in toy guns. We found this out by accident when my grandad bought me them as a kid. She did it from young right to old age and she really, really loved it - when we said 'where's y'arrow?' she'd go mad with excitement, looking for it under the sofa so that we'd throw it for her. It was a real novelty for us and visitors to see this - try to associate it with a word or phrase and she may end up doing it for life like my cat! I like to think it's because she was clever :-)
