I was wondering if such places exist where I could take my dog just to try him on an agility course? Somewhere for complete beginners?

I found agility classes two ways
1) local vets had the contact details
2) web search - put in agility, dog and my county

Try agilitynet. They have a list of clubs, and all clubs will have beginners sessions. However, you need to have proper instruction rather just be let loose, or else it can be dangerous for your dog. Sometimes they do demonstrations at shows, and allow members of the public to go round the course with an experienced person showing them what to do. Contact clubs in your area, and ask about their beginner sessions and ask if you can go along and see if your dog is likely to take to it.

If this is your 9 month old, they will want him to be 12 months before you can train on the equipment, but you could use the time to take him to basic obedience classes, as you will need a bit of control to start doing agility.
