bald legs

my westie is 3 weeks pregnant and she has started to nattle at her back legs, is there anything i can put on her to stop her doing it. i would rather not get any steroid or antibiotics while she is pregnant.

My dog started doing this, and the vet said that dogs lick and nibble at their legs and paws when they are stressed or feeling blue. Perhaps she's feeling the strain of being pregnant (think of human hormones!). Give your westie lots of love and affection, try rubbing her legs with olive oil. It will sooth the itching and even if she licks it off it won't harm her. Else you should be able to get some cream from the vets. Let me know how she goes.
