I know that cats should not drink cows milk but my 17 year old cat loves it. I have stopped giving it to him but he mithers me for it. I have tried the special milk for cats but he wont drink it. Does anyone know of any other alternative.
As your cat has reached this age without bad effects from the milk she is not lactose intolerant, as many adult cats are. This causes vomiting and diarrhoea and the cat simply does not thrive. This is not the case with your cat.
I should let her carry on having the milk - perhaps a smaller quantity twice a day.
I agree with Ethel.
If your cat has survived to 17, then milk can not be doing it much harm, and why deprive it of something it likes at this stage in life ?
My cats adore carnation milk[evap] I dilute it with boiled water ,they have had it for years with no problems and a tin lasts a long time thank goodness. But dont give it neat as it can give them the runs!!
