How do you clean or wash a hamster?

They usually keep themselves nice and clean. No bathing necessary. :)

If he does need a wash for some reason, a gentle sponging with tepid water, no soap, may help.
I would agree with Ethel's answer. They are fairly clean in their habits, and shouldn't get too mucky.

And yes, gentle sponging is probably the way to go, if you have to! :)

I once had to wash my daughters hamster. I was waving her off on her driving lesson and decided to continue wallpapering her room when I looked in the bucket of paste there was her hamster clinging to the brush. Looking at the amount of droppingsin the bucket it looked like he had been there some time. He survived his ordeal and lived for another couple of years.
Johnstons do a small animal shampoo, ask at your local pet shop. If not get one for kittens and puppies, which is very mild.

However, you should only bath it if it gets really mucky for some reason, in 'normal use' Hamsters should not need a bath.

Ensure it is totally dry and keep an eye on it as they can easily suffer from shock.
