A friend of mine ( a right know-all) swears that a King Charles spaniel is exempt from ' No Dogs Allowed' premises, including hotels etc and the owner has a legal right, granted by royalty to the breed, to take the dog wherever he pleases. Please tell me ( authoratively) that this is balderdash so that I can institute a rapid deflation of ego.
They were granted royal immunity at one time and there is a belief that they can travel on public transport free of charge, although I wouldn't like to try to make it stick in this day and age. This is the King Charles Spaniel, as opposed to the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They were named after King Charles II put his name to the breed, which were used by the ladies of the court to keep their feet warm and to keep the fleas off them!
