Maggots in Cat
7 Answers
We were missing this cat for a few days, until recently our neighbor spotted her at a yard sale. She has two wounds on here and maggots in both wounds. We put on peroxide and water in it, in high hopes that might kill the maggots. We have had her since this morning and she can walk, she is drinking water as I type we have here in the bathroom. Any Idea how to kill all the maggots quickly?

Apologies if you intend to and just want some immediate advice, as I am being presumtive without meaning to! For quick advice, I would still contact the vet surgery as they may be able to give you advice over the phone. I seem to remember seeing this type of thing on one of the vet reality series and they washed out the wound with salt saline solution. But I really think this cat needs urgent medical treatment. Best of luck and I hope the cat will be okay.

My friends cat was caught in a trap a couple of weeks ago, and although her leg was badly injured the vet thought they could save it, however in less than 24 hours it had become infested with maggots, and although the leg was ok they could not get rid of the maggots and she had to have the leg amputated. Daren't tell you the vets bill!
Hi.. I had an extremely injured cat that came home with maggots in the leg.. unfortunately she did have to have her leg amputated BUT the vet sprayed a little flea spray and it brought the maggots out, then I was able to continue to clean and pull all the maggots off... she is fine! I found a kitten with maggots in her ears too.. same thing, sprayed a little flea spray and plucked all of them out! Remember, maggots do NOT eat health flesh, they eat the dead flesh, so they are not doing any harm, probably feels weird, but they are helping!
