Happy house rabbit?

We have had our baby rabbit for a week now, hes 8 weeks old. he is really nervous around us and runs off whenever we try to go near him. how can we tame him and get him used to being handled? he lets us pick him up if he is in his cage but he is just really still like he is really scared of us. i really dont want to scare him but i want him to be a friendly house rabbit.

Any ideas?

I dont mean to dishearten you but we have a house rabbit that doesnt like to be picked up whatsoever he doesnt bite but he just kept scrambling to get off!, however he does like being petted on his own terms our neighbours over the road got two houserabbits too and one of them is completely nutty and doesnt like being picked up either so i think it is just the luck of the draw wether or not they like being picked up. good luck with him as they are really entertaining and they can also be trained too!
