Hi, after posting for info on how to toilet train my Husky/Lab x pups I searched for other Husky Q & A's and can't seem to find anyone with anything good to say about thm....lol!
I've read they never come back when let off leads, are impossible to train, need tonnes of excercise (obviously!), kill everything in sight, escape frequently, wreck everything and are just totally inappropriate pets...has anyone got anything positive to say on them?? How likely it is my pups will have all these terrible traits, lol, even though they are crossed with a Lab which nearly always have great things said??
Thanks in advance peeps :O)

Huskys are quite hard to train because they are so intelligent, they choose what they want to do rather than be told!. They are the closest dogs to wolves and are natural hunters. They will run if let off the lead, to go hunting. I was always chasing mine around the village, lol. They have also been known to kill small pets. If yours are crossed with Labs I would think they would inherit some obedience. However, they are great character, fun, beautiful and will certainly keep you fit!. It's a challenge, but well worth it. Good luck

Hi, thanks for giving me some positives!!
I have already trained (ha, famous last words!) one to 'sit' and 'leave it', the other one sits but then goes off to have a nap as it can't be bothered, heh! They do pick things up ever so quickly so I was thinking they were pretty intelligent dogs.
We live in a very small village where there are lots of rural walks and we have a 100ft garden so these are looking like they will be good things! I have a cat but she has taken to living upstairs and having her demands met, she was living wild when we got her so when they do eventually have a proper meeting they may have bitten off more tan they can chew :O)
Thanks again, I was thinking I had perhaps bought the worst dogs I could!
Hey schlomo. I would love to see some piccies of your pups if you have any! They sound special. I saw your previous post, and I know it must look like huskies are hard work. From what I know, huskies ARE! But perhaps the lab in them will balance that a bit. Which do they look most like? I am really curious-they seem such a funny mix!

If you manage a husky properly, they are wonderfully rewarding-so I would recommend reading up lots on general and specific training guidance. Did you see the last Dog Borstal? A beautiful husky featured, and its owners really had no idea-it seems that huskies aren't your typical "pet"-you will need to give them lots of mental stimulation as well as physical exercise.

I hope you enjoy their puppyhood and that they grow into fabulous adults. x
