itchy hamster...

my hamster's been quite itchy in ummm certain areas ahem, and just cant seem to stop scratching himself .... i dont know if its fleas or what, coz i give him a bath every other day and check him for nits a;ll the time. He's quite good at brushing his own fur and taking care of his hygiene so it cant be some weird disgusting infection....
Its getting quite embarassing as I may have friends over tomorrow and we would all like to see dopey being his usual self and juggling some peas rather than itching his furry bits.... :(
Please advise asap.
