is our cat in season?
Our cat has started to "meow" continuously and we don't know what to do. Finances are hard at the moment for our family and cannot afford vet bills. Do you have any advice??? Please help coz it is driving us up the wall!!!!!!

Sorry, Sy.W, although I sympathise with your situation, I'm wondering why you acquired a female cat in the first place, if you couldn't afford to get her spayed? Too many people get cats and don't have them neutered, resulting in too many kittens (cute at the time, but they grow up!), and can't find homes for them. Are you prepared to keep up to 8 or 9 kittens, especially when they grow up? It'll cost you a lot more in cat food than it would to have your female spayed now. I don't mean to sound harsh and I'm truly sorry you've found yourself in this situation. It's just that I care a lot about cats and I've seen the result of un-neutered moggies running wild.
the cost of spaying or neutering is not that expensive. My vet only charges 35. Saving 2 a week from aquiring a kitten means that by the time it is old enough to have the operation you should have enough money. If money is tight does this mean you have not had her vaccinated either? Please be a responsible owner. Animals deserve good qualilty care and respect.
I couldn't agree more with the last two posts. Have you considered pet insurance? Try spending some time playing with your cat every day, maybe thats all she needs. I would start selling my posessions if my cat needed a trip to the vet and I would sell everything I could till I had the money I needed. Pets deserves to be well taken care of and our problems should not become thier problem. I don't know your situation and I'm not insinuating anything, I just get very frustrated because there are some pet owners that do not take the responsibility to care for thier pets. I'm glad you are at least asking for help. However; a phone call to the vet is free and they are the ones you should try asking for help first. GOOD LUCK.
Please don't let your cat have kittens (its definitely sounding like she's on heat or about to go on it). There are so many kittens and so few decent homes for them. This year has been worse than ever with regards to abandoned cats and kittens. Like the previous posts have pointed out already there are many campaigns on the go helping people get their cats spayed/nuetered. Also keep in mind that apart from unwanted kittens there are many diseases that are rife which are the result of either mating or fighting,so having your cat spayed or nuetered could save you a fortune in the longterm not to mention give your cat the chance of a much happier life. Give the Cat Protection League a ring and they'll put you straight.

Here's the phone number and e mail address for the Cats Protection League, they'll give you the number of your local branch. The RSPCA will also spay her for around 15.

To Peanut pet insurance does NOT cover spaying.
To Kleiber when we obtained our cat we were lead to believe it was male...it wasnt until it had its first vaccinations that we were then told it was actually female. And WHY cant owners of male cats neuter their cats too...why should it be the total repsonibility of the female cat owners??? >:|
