I was luck enough to visit the states last wek. I happened to mention that I take my dog to work. The chap that I was talking to couldn't believe it, said it would never happen there.
Any thoughts?

It really depends on the type of dog and temperament.

Only last week I was confronted by a dog that belonged to a workman who was repairing the fence of one of the shared drive occupants. This was on property that as a crosslease holder I have every right to enjoy unimpeded use of. Things got nasty after that as I don't tolerate menacing dogs, especially on private property.

At the other hand, I have often met other dogs that obviously belonged to workmen and after gaining reassurance from the owner, have had some very enjoyable playtimes with friendly strange dogs.

dogs do go to work with people in the states, I've seen the dog whisperer programmes where there are dogs in offices.

My husband used to take our dog to work to his office in his last job here in the uk

Aww, that's a shame! I take Jack to the office sometimes, as I work alone if it's admin work I am catching up on. So it's not an issue! He's a Collie. I wouldn't take him into an environment with lots of people, he would hate it! So I guess it is dependent on dog and working environment.
