My boyfriend and I are having a valentines dinner party with my best friend and her fella. We're all really good friends so this isn't a problem. But my friend has got her boyfriend a really nice pocket watch as a present and all I have for my man (henceforth known as N) is a little Love Bug thing. I feel like I haven't done enough. Neither of the two relationship are very old. The best friend, J, and her fella, B, have been going out three months and me and N have been together for two and a bit.

N is very geeky and I'm getting him some specially printed t-shirts for his birthday which is in March, but I still feel I need something extra for the dinner party. Any suggestions?

Dont worry about trying to keep up with your friend. You have got him something anyway and I am sure he is with you for you, not presents.

I know. Unfortunately I'm a very insecure and paranoid person. N is wonderful with me, very patient. I'm very lucky to have him. I have also written him a poem, and I've got a pair of stockings to wear (despite the fact that I'm not a tights/stockings person) because he once mentioned he thought I'd look good in them.
How about posting a photo of YOU in those Sexy Stockings, that way we can all see how good (or not) that you look !!, Oh well it was just a thought !!!

nope, sorry signsofgoing. I only reveal stuff like that to N

Relax. You said the relationship is only 2 months old. Something expensive and senitmental like a pocket watch might freak him out anyway. I'd stick with your plan for little pressie and stockings. If it makes you uncomfortable, get your mate to exchange her gifts with her fella before they come for dinner. It doesn't have to be a focal point then.
how about taking a picture of yourself wearing the stockings, then slipping the photo into your valentine card to him (mark the envelope PRIVATE though just in case he opens it in front of the other copuple!!) he will love the forethought of this.
I would feel really awkward if someone gave me a present like that after only being together a few months. I would probably just expect to get a card and all i would give, maybe flowers from the garage cos i'm romantic like that! you say your insecure, unless your friend has got plenty of cash to spend she sounds like she might be the insecure one. I like pingpings idea, im sure he would too
Don't do the photo thing!
The greatest gift you can ever give someone is your time (which reminds me I must ring my mum) any gift you give him will be accepted cheerfully if it's straight from the heart.
If he's with you on Valentines morning then I have to say the best present you can give him (and this will always serve you well) is a sausage butty and a w@nk. You do that every Sunday and he'll be your obedient servant forever. ;-))

lol. i do that anyway :D
In future keep Valentines dinner for just you and your partner. Whatever you give each other (however small) should be special to you, and not to be compared to what someone else has bought their partner.
I know I'm late on this but na don't worry and yea your friend is the one thats over reacting just be happy together
