Hi everyone, we have just rescued a 3 year old Westie bitch from a horrible life. She has never lived indoors and is not house trained. She an absolute little star, just needs some fine tuning!! Any tips welcomed......

Treat her as you would a puppy, plenty of comfort breaks, every time she has eaten, slept or played take her out and stay out with her. Lots of short walks, and lots of encouragement when she does a wee or poo. Well done for taking her on, best of luck.
I can only echo what lankeela has said.
We re-homed a Westie bitch a year ago. It was hard work as she required quite a bit of training.
She is as good as gold now and fully house trained.
Full of fun but we love her to bits.
Good luck. xxx
If you catch her in the act of peeing or pooing in your house, a quick "NO" (providing she hasn't been yelled at before by her previous owner) and then rush her outside and lots of praise when she gets it right.

Hi DOGLADY and thanx for getting in touch. Unfortunately, Bella (the westie) was mis-treated by her previous owner and, although she is settling in fine, she is a shivering wreck when she hears loud noises/voices! Tried the "NO" bit and it made her wee more (bless her). Been taking her out every hour, on the hour and we seem to be getting results. Thanks again!!
