I woke up on tues evening to hear my dog violently heaving downstairs, i let her out but she was not sick. Since then she hasnt been eating properly and has had a bad stomach also. When i give her her food in her bowl she nudges it away with her nose as if she isnt interested in it. The only thing she has eaten is a few treats, but only maybe one a day. I even tried to give her some scrambled egg today as she normally eats that when she is feeling off but still nudged it away. Any ideas what this behaviour could be? thanks

Take her to the vets asap .Could be anything a virus or something ..but I would be away to the vet pronto.
You really have to get your dog to the Vet ASAP.
It has gone on too long. It could be anything.
Apart from anything else, your dog is bound to be dehydrated by now.
Please update us. xx
Hope everything is okay.

No she has been speyed and is 12 years old x
Try your best to get some fluids into her - until you can get her to a vet and find out what's wrong it's the dehydration thats the biggest problem. All the best. x

yes they are all up to date, she had her last booster in November. I am finging the vet first thing in the morning, will let you know what happens. Thanks x
Please do let us know Beki ....always a worry with elderly pooches who show this sort of behaviour as I very well know ..I hope she will she be OK .xx
Any news on the pooch? x
Was just wondering that myself. Hope everythings ok.
Try worming. That's my first option if my dogs are off their food and being sick. Especially as I don't believe it's good for them to be given drugs of they don't need it, so don't worm on a regular basis, only when needed. 9 times out of 10 it sorts them out.

Hi. Sorry havent posted earlier i had to go straight to work after the vets this morning.

She has a bacterial infection with high temperature. She had bloods taken for electrolytes and for a disease (cant remember name). They gave her antibiotic and anti sickness injection. and we have medication to give her also.

She was weighed and has lost 7KG in a year which is quite a lot so they took bloods to test for diabetes and kidney failure.

All the blood tests came back clear this afternoon so they sticking with the bacterial infection but will start investigating further if this happens again as it is not so long ago she was off her food before.

Thanks for all your advice and concern, at least my mind has been put at rest for the serious stuff and she has medication to help her feel better. The Vets gace us some special food to try in small amounts and she has started eating that so going to get some more for the next few days.

Thanks again! xx
There is more miserable that an ill dog. Make sure she gets plenty of peace and quiet and loads of cuddles.

Best wishes
Pleased to hear it's nothing too serious Beki ..Hope your pooch will soon be better .
