I cant believe it, As anything this awful happened to you? We went away for the night on saturday and when we got home yesterday lunch time We let our ferrets out as normal like we do every day to play with them, it was the first time in 10 days i let pip out as i have not long had her spade, i had not noticed that the dog next door had dog a whole, we couldnt get to her quick enough and the dog just pulled her through, by the time i was getting through the neighbours gate she was dead, I feel so awful i cant stop crying , it was terrible and all i can here is pip screaming, it was my fault but it happened so quick, i turned around to get a toy and she was gone. The neighbour did appoligise, but after he did so he then told me that the dog had killed 14 guinea pigs....

How has their dog killed FOURTEEN guinea pigs? Was the neighbour feeding the dog them? Was the first one not a bit of a sign? T**t.
Not really sure you can prosecute or press charges or anything, but I would definitely suggest that your neighbour keep your dog in a more secure area. Would the RSPCA be of any use, I wonder?
I hope you are OK. Have you got someone with you?

Oh sweetheart (((((hugs))))))
I'd be devestated if another animals hurt or killed my animals too - and be sorely tempted to boot the dog. I'm not very sure the police can do anything about it because it hasn't hurt a human.
Give them a call, or call the RSPCA and they'll be able to advise you the best thing you can do.
My heart goes out to you xxx

MrBounty, with all due respect, I am not sure the dog is 'dangerous' in the same context as the Dangerous Dogs act. Don't get me wrong, what has happened here is horrible. Some dogs, though, like greyhounds for example, have a high 'prey drive', and will attack small furries. Outside of this situation though, greyhounds are usually very gentle and laidback.
I am not excusing this dog owner's irresponsibility at all.

Aparently the husky was rescued from a family that bread guinea pigs, i did not know this till just now, i cant really do anything as pip was technicaly in there garden, they cage this dog up in a big steel cage but the raillings do not go into the ground and he obviously got bored so decided to dig under the fence.......i just could not do anything she was so quick, i have 3 dogs but they get on well with the ferrets, i always taught my ferrets not to bite the dogs so she didnt stand a chance,
When I was wee I had two guinea pigs. They were in the kitchen one day in a big box and next doors dog sneaked in and carried one off. She didn't kill it but it died of shock. It was horrid. Don't think the dog can really be blamed as they just do waht comes naturally don't they. My yorking once bit the head off a vole that my dad had rescued :/
So sorry josaphine. You must feel awful. I too would be devastated.
A dog killing small animals would not be classed as a dangerous dog. Unfortunately it is instinctive. However, the owners should perhaps have taken more care and should have noticed that the dog was digging a hole. He must be terribly bored being caged up, poor thing.
The whole episode is so very upsetting, but it was a tragic accident.
A dog of mine once ate one of my budgies. I felt absolutely mortified. I had left the cage door open accidentally and the budgie was hopping around the floor.
