Poorly Kittens......

A friend got two kittens a couple of weeks ago - and tonight had to take them to the vets as both are unwell - they have got fleas, conjunctivitis and cat flu .... and apparently are only 6 weeks old, so were sold to her at 4 weeks - they are small but she didn't know they were this young when she got them and the lady who sold them surely should not have let them go so young? Is there anywhere (apart from RSPCA) she can report this to? It needs to be reported as these little ones are porrly because of the start they have had. Any ideas?

Anyway, i dont think it's illegal to sell kittens at 4 weeks old
She should definitely report this sad situation to the RSPCA (and take lots of pictures of the kittens at the moment, as evidence) - I am glad to read that these kittens are under veterinary treatment as at 6 weeks old they don't have a lot of reserves. Those ailments (fleas, cat flu) can be killers, so perhaps your friend can ask her vet for advice on appropriate reporting.

Thanks both if you for your advice - have tried to find if there are legal rulings around minimum age to sell kittens, but doesn't seem to be a law around it - most sites say 8 weeks as not built immunity before then, thanks for your help. EK
This site is interesting:

The new Animal Welfare act should cover things like this.

If she bought them from a licensed breeder the Local Authority (Environmental Health or Dog Warden) are the people to contact. (Could also inform them even if the breeder was not licensed).
poor babies!! Glad to know they're under the vet's supervision now - I do hope they'll be OK. Please let us know how they're progressing. K xxx
Keeping my fingers crossed for these two little ones.
