Try using dried food with a bit of gravy
as unhappychick a good dried food. There are lots on the market with all sorts of flavours and additives to suit all sizes and types of dog just shop round till you find one that your dog likes, Max my GSD prefers Beta Pet Maintenence
Burns dog food is excellant, my sister's dog used to suffer from upset tums and awful wind so she tried Burns, the dog also suffered from itchy skin but after a couple of weeks on Burns all this has cleared up, I also know another dog who has been put on it with good results. There's a lot of information on their site, why not take a look. but remember to introduce the new food gradually over a week.
I have tried every type of dog food imaginable but always return to Eukanuba. It never give my dogs upset tummies, they have lovely hard little sausage like poos(!) and they always have shiny coats and clean teeth. You feed less, and there is less waste as they digest more than other types of food.
i feed my dog the same food i eat. sometimes i buy cheap fish and cook rice and fish pelau with scraps of vegetables for him. how he loves it! my dog has never eaten store bought food.
Yes dry food is excellent for dogs that tends to get upset tummy i have 3 dogs and they have tinned tesco meat and tescos complete food (dry food is down all the time they want a nibbie) i tried my dogs on all the dog meat on the market eg ; pedigree chum/winalot/chappie/ the lot and they just wouldnt eat it and my brother gave me a tin of tescos lamb dog meat and they wolfed it loved it and its great for them too and they dont tend to break wind either lol ..

For the last while, I have been feeding her a mixture of boiled rice, mince and mixed veg and she is loving it! She is bright eyed and bushy tailed - literally. When we got her from a shelter she was quite baldy and thin and she is now a lovely active dog Her poos are good and we have no more killer f@rts (apart from when she gets a bit of chicken as an extra treat!)
I am continuing to research this topic and may change in the future if I find eg that the current food is lacking in any essential vitamin or minerals etc, but at the minute things are going great.
For everyone that prefers dried food, there are as many people who will advise against it and prefer either raw or wet food. Orijen is the the the new dried food of the moment on the market, but it has a high protein content which I am not keen on. Personally I dont do the 'raw' feeding thing and mine have a mixture of both dried (Hills Natures Best, which I have fed for 20 years with no problems), for one meal and a wet food for another (you shouldnt mix dry and wet food together as they are both digested at different levels).

Dependant on the size of dog you have, if you want to feed a home cooked diet and you have a good butcher, you may be able to get cheap meat off cuts, (mine sells them for 50p a bag), and he will also de bone chicken thighs for me, which I boil with some pasta and vegetables. I make enough to last a few a week and freeze in bags. Try to avoid gravy due to the salt content. If I am feeling lazy I give them Natures Harvest for one meal, which always seems to go down well.
