Hey Ice, was that parrot completely bald, ie even its head? I ask because parrots pluck themselves when they are bored or depressed. But the head is a place where they can't reach to pluck, of course.
Thanks In a pickle. I think they are an acquired taste, but from photos on various sites and films on You Tube, they seem so loveable and fun loving. I believe they are quite high maintenance, as they need to be bathed once per week, due to their skins secreting an oily substance.
I have to say, the darker hued ones do look better than the pinkish ones, which look a bit like raw chickens. They do seem to be more sought after in the US.
Hi chappie! Yes, the parrot was completely bald and looked like a plucked chicken! Apparently, such birds often don't live for too long, but this one was about 4 years old, and after my initial gasps of shock, I thought he was lovely!!!
Do ya know what species of parrot he was? I've got an African Grey and a Macaw. I've never heard of one that's completely bald - poor thing. Or did he seem content in himself?
