My dog has a bad itching problem. The vet said not to worry about it but it drives her nuts sometimes. She does not have fleas. Dog creams and sprays don't help much. Is it ok to use Aloe Vera Gel or Calendula cream on her? thanks

Awww.. sorry to hear about your poor pooch. Dee.... is she a nervous sort of dog ? (it sounds more like stress or an allergy than fleas or other nasty critters). Sorry, but I have no idea about Aloe Vera or Calendula creams.. but I am sure the other clever pet folk will have an idea or three...
i know someone who has a jack russell with a similar problem and she uses tea tree and gives him a bath with tea tree oil in it
Our dog went to the vet only this week because of similar problem, turned out it was his anal gland needed sorting and it stopped him scratching almost instantly. Our dog was scratching himself at the back end though most of the time but not his bum!
It can also be what you are feeding your dog - if it's a food that is high in protein this can cause itching - maybe try a different food that is not so rich.
l hope this helps
1 no human skin creams the PH is to high
2 food if this is the prblem try chicken and rice for one mounth
3 bathtime every 3 days luke warm water epsum salts in the water no sampoo 1 mth
4 a teaspoon full of margerine every 2 days( this has a esensual oil in it that is not in most dog food to expencive)
5 getting anul gland cleaned out good idear
if this helps lm plesed to help
if not l will try to think of other things that helped
