fizzy
i rescued fizzy (8year old female yorkie) from a horrible puppy breeder who kept her in a cat box outside. took her weeks to learn to trust me, and now she loves me so much, its hard to believe shes the same little dog i rescued. the problem is that i have more work commitment and cant give her the attention she craves. a friends grandmother, who recently lost her yorkie would like to have her, but im so worried that fizzy will think iv abandoned her and will she think that she's going back to her "old" miserable life? i know this lady will take great care of her, but when i think of what fizzy might be thinking, i cry my eyes out. will she learn to trust this lady, the way she did with me? TIA x

I took on a neighbours cat a few years ago and thought it would be very difficult for her to accept me as her new owner/slave especially when 'home' was right next door. But amazingly she settled in nearly straight away and was soon making my home her new domain!
How did I realise that she had completely accepted my home as hers? When I got home from work one day to find my neighbours petting her in their driveway. She was lapping it up, but as soon as she saw me, she raced over as if she could not wait to see me! Luckily my neighbours were pleased to see this as they wanted her to be happy in her new home.
Hopefully my tale will reassure you that most animals will respond to a new loving owner, I am sure that Fizzy will appreciate that you have her best interests at heart.
Best of luck, Sue

Have you thought rather than a straight hand over, perhaps she could take her for walks with you first and perhaps stay a while with fizzy on her own in your house?. If you did this for a while, perhaps she would get used to her new owner before going to live with her permanently? It could also set your mind at rest as you will be able to see how they interact with each other before you hand her over?
