Scrufts competition

I have been told about a competition for dogs called Scrufts but can't find out much more info about it. I believe that it is for . . . lets just say non-pedigree dogs (!) and I have a little lady who is well qualified to enter!
I don't know if it is related to Crufts or whether it is a seperate set-up but I would be interested in any info anyone might have about it ie where, when etc etc.

You may mean 'Scruffts' which is organised by the Kennel Club for one of its charities. There are local rounds and the competition is featured at the annual Discover Dogs in London.

Thanks fredpuli - seems that I couldn't find the info because I had been spelling it wrong!
I have had a look at the site but all the 2009 dates seem to be in England. Is it just an English event? I am in Northern Ireland.

Very annoying! Believe it or not ,the Kennel Club had a heat, promptly named 'barks in the park', for the Scruffts Competition, Crawfordsburn Country Park, Northern Ireland, in 2008.
Can only suggest you ring the KC or the Irish Kennel Club. They may know of a similar event.The Irish Kennel Club site did not list such an equivalent event in the Republic, but that's not too surprising. The UK KC site was not very forthcoming until I put in 'scruffts' in their search box. I found the news of the 2008 N I Scruffts event under the NI environment agency site, after googling scruffts and Ireland!

Thanks for your efforts fred. I think the person who told me about it had heard of the event in NI last year so I hoped that it might be an annual event.

ps. was gonna tell ya that they have an event like this in crawfordsburn country park every year..but someone got there first! lol

hey gonzo. there was one on in crawfordsburn this time last year but it seems to have been a one-off. do you know if it (or something similar) is on again this year?

the one i remember was organised by north down borough council as part of the summer programme of events so try thier website maybe..i also remember being in ardglass for thier annual fish festival and they had a scruftts competition there too so i would check out any local festivals coming up this spring/summer! i'm currently working abroad so i'm a bit out of touch with the local scene but i will be back for good soon and will try to find out more for you then! :0)

Theres the Donaghadee Dog Show. I am looking for any other shows or events like this in N.Ireland cause there hard to find.

There is something on in Mount Stewart on 18th April called the Wet Nose day.
