I contacted a dog behavourist who suggested teaching her new tricks. He said it would take her mind off our older dog and give her something to think about and to teach her tricks that are not easy to learn, like bringing a tissue when we make a sneezing sound or picking up things we drop and passing them to us.
He also suggested leaving the radio on when we leave the house so she doesnt feel alone.
It really worked and within a few weeks she was so much better!

Hi
how about getting another adult dog from a rescue shelter?I have always found my dogs are much happier when they have doggy company, so I'd never have a single dog again if I can help it. all of my dogs are rescues (including a GSD ) and not all have come to me as pups, yet they get on brilliantly....if you're going to do this, take Cassie to the shelter with you to check out she likes whoever you choose!
good luck....
