The new pup arrives on Saturday. Any tips on helping him to be accepted by our bitch?

keep them apart then introduce them slowly.
Be careful not to make a lot of fuss of the pup without fussing over the bitch.Don't want the adult to feel put out !My experience has been that bitches feel protective and act quite protectively to any pup, whoever the dam is, which helps.
Give the puppy a cage or pen to sleep in which will also give the bitch a chance of a bit of peace if the puppy wants to play or pester her. Bitches rarely harm a puppy, but might just put a few manners onto him if he gets ideas above his station.
We were in exactly this position a few years ago. We took our adult bitch to where we were getting the pup(male) and introduced them immediately.
A few of the comments already made are ridiculous, like the one from Bettyboo22 - no justification for that kind of action at all! The bitch will ALWAYS be in charge and the little sprog will be left in absolutely no doubt from the outset who's boss! Dogs NEED to have leaders and followers, a bit like we humans I guess?
Also, absolute rubbish from lankeela about putting the pup in a pen - that would create absolute mayhem - no, far better to let both dogs mix - the bitch will soon put the little upstart in his place if need be! And he will learn very quickly just what he can (or can't!) get away with. She will educate him, but how can she if he's locked away as if he has committed some crime?
I've had dogs for donkey's years - as long as you remember that they ARE dogs and not human beings, you'll be fine. Having said that, most dogs aren't stupid and learn quickly. Although, we did have a greyhound once and she was as thick as a brush...................
when i was about 8 we got a new puppy and already had a 8 year old bitch, my great uncle who had bred dogs all his life told us to put them into a room together and they'll soon decide if they are going to get on or not, we did it and after a lot of sniffing and anxiety from the pup she started to get a bit playful jumping about nipping the other dog when all of a sudden the older dog grabbed the puppy pinned her to the floor and licked her face, it was as if she was saying we are going to be friends but im in charge.

supposedly this is what my great uncle was expecting

My advice would be through them in at the deep end but make sure your there incase it gets nasty

In the deepend it has been. He's not afraid of other dogs or ours and has been put in his place for trying to suckle andd pinch food. Anyway back to housetraining.

Great news! Hope you have many happy years ahead with both your dogs.
Instinct usually prevails with them and I'm sure that your female will all but "adopt" the little fella and will show him the ropes in all aspects of growing up into a big roughie toughie!!
Good luck.

Well, she looks at him like a turd in a swimming pool and shows absolutely zero maternal instincts but on the plus side she hasn't eaten him yet.
Just wait until he gets hurt or terrified and is yelling ! Around here, the strange bitches showed no maternal feelings to a pup, until one day it got seriously told off by the wolfhound bitch and ran screaming to cower in a corner. All the other bitches rushed over and were licking its face, calming it, and giving the poor wolfhound dirty looks. The dog (i.e. male) paid no attention whatsoever!
OK, I am curious - what breed is the new pup?

The poo machine is a RRidgeback.
