Tail Bitten Off of Black Phantom Tetra
Hi All
I have a small shoal (6) of Black Phantoms all male but 1. I noticed in the last 2 days she has had her tail fin completely bitten off. Will she cope if it doesn't become infected or would it be kinder to euthanize her, something I really don't want to do if I can possibly avoid it.
TIA daginge

For now keep the water as clean as possible....daily water changes will help, you could also try a product called Melafix [basically a animal formular tea tree oil....don't just add tea tree though!] as it helps with healing. But as said before....pristine clean water is the main thing.

Hi Lisa Sorry for the delay been away at work on and off! She is still swimming upright and now that the light is off they are all shoaled together, this is wierd as she seems during the day to be either shunned or maybe just hiding, in an amazon sword. I have used an Interpet WS treatment and the only test kit I currently have is for Nitrite. All seems OK with test and water is at a constant 26.5c!
The WS does not seem to have worked on the Neon Tetra's lip I think this might be a euthenizing jo unfortunately, however there is apparent no degradation of Phantom tail.
