Invading cat from next door!

I am soon to be moving in with my partner (with my two cats and his three). The problem we have at the moment is that his 3 cats are being terrorised by the cat from next door (who is a big bruising brute of a thing). This cat (we'll call it Psycho) has terrified his girl cat to the extent that she won't come home unless one of us goes and gets her and will only eat if I stand guard over the cat flap. Psycho comes in through the flap (and this bloody cat has actually broken two cat flaps cos he just forces them open), beats the home cats up and then nicks their food. OK, if we are around he gets chased off, but we can't be there 24/7. I'm going to install a water pistol in the kitchen to give him a squirt every time I see him but can anyone suggest ANYTHING at all we can do? My OH's cats are terrifed and I don't want to take mine into that situation until we have come to a resolution. The neighbours are unwilling to do anything (in fact I think they are part of the problem cos Psycho is not allowed in the house because of the new baby).

A key cat flap is something we can try (although I suspect that too will end up forced open), but can anyone suggest an effective remedy to discourage this brute?

TIA

Psycho and Asbo....lol

I presume you both work full time so can't get rid of the cat flap?
difficult as anti-cat stuff would affect your masters and mistresses.
How about one of those magnetic cat flaps? But do yours and partners cats lose their collars?
congrats on the moving in!
When you see Psycho coming towards the cat flap couldn't you get you partner to chastise it with a heavy hammer?

I know ummmm, its going to be a blood bath when I take HIM there! I do work from home a lot, but can't guarantee I will be there everyday so we really need to let them have a flap. I did consider dumping Psycho in the lake on Saturday night when he woke me up killing Boo (not the AB Boo!), but I couldn't actually hurt an animal.

Thanks Alba, but the problem with a magnetic flap is Psycho will just force the damn thing open (like he has the other two flaps).

lol Sandy. I chased the damn thing away three times this morning and I only stood there for 5 minutes! Cocky git it is too.
not an instant answer but get a rodent and build up its immunity to arsenic or some other poison and give it to Psycho for a pressie

Only joking....don't shout at me

lol Alba - worse thoughts had crossed my mind in a moment of desperation at picking up more Boo fur from the floor!
Think it's going to remain a problem until Psycho is allowed back in his own home. He's misundestood bless him. Think any anti cat aids will upset the house cats.

Borrow a large dog and put him in front of the cat flap.

Take him to local Chinese, problem solved! Only joking but well.
With a name like ASBO surely your little darling will be able to deal with this intruder. Or is ASBO a big wuss?

I feel sorry for Psycho - he has been turfed out of his home and is probably unloved. Has he been de-balled? Maybe this would mellow him a little.

Best of luck - they are complicated animals.
