Who on earth has the right to grant a licence for these wild animals to be kept as pets. It's disgusting - I'm absolutely ouraged and very, very sad. I dont want to say "it serves her right" but........

I feel sorry for the bear - it didn't deserve to be shot. What now happens to her lion and tiger?
My God! And I see this loopo "also owned a Bengal tiger and an African lion, and had licences to keep them"! What for? Status-seeking is the usual thing, I gather.

I felt bad enough about the wild bear that wandered into a shopping centre in Japan and got shot. It probably only wanted to play with the shoppers. They do play rather rough, mind! Our cat gets dead miffed when its playmates wont play any more, being dead. But a bear in a cage is a terrible thing to see. More so than most animals, from my observation. Their displacement activities and rockings to and fro seem so much more desperate.

Now in Hokkaido, N Japan there are still Ainu who bring them up as one of the family, and my experience of that is that they are also like our cat. I once had a really hard time trying to persuade a mere cub that I was all played out. They just won't let go, you know.

Hopefully they'll go to sanctuary of some sort and at least have more space. They probably wouldn't survive in the wild.... and yes you are quite right she is a loopoo.
With the Ainu, I understand that the end for the bear is scrifice and being eaten :(
