Missing dogs???

My 5 year old greyhound Franky went missing on friday morning down the river at pagebank near willington in county durham.
What i wanted to know is there is a website where you can advertise lost dogs its called pet ? I can't remember the name of it. It is a good website as well.
I have tried googling it but can't find it. If anyone could please help me as a matter of urgency i would be really grateful.

Sorry to hear your dog is missing and hope you find him soon.

If you contact Dog Lost they will advertise the fact that he is missing, put up a poster that you and others can download to put up in the area, give advice on contacting vets. dog wardens, kennels, etc. and advice on what to do if he is sighted - e.g. leaving food out and even arranging for a trap. Have a look at the doglost site and you will be amazed how many dogs are missing. The area is put on, so people in that area can help look and many people give up their time to help search. Also many of us then crosspost the details to dog and other groups we are on, so there is maximum publicity, as this is what brings so many of them home. Their main advice is to poster, poster, poster! so as many people as possible know the dog is missing so if they see it they will recognise it. Poster in chip shops, pet shops, bus stops, pubs (where a lot of stolen dogs get sold on) and on lampposts or noticeboards anywhere you can.

Did he have a name and address tag on?
Obvious, I know, but I take it you've told the police or the council [ now not the police but the local council in our area] .The dog warden may have him eventually, if not now. Your vet can also help ( or a vet local to the area where he was lost ). And. of course, there are the local rescue cehtres, like Wood Green here, to notify.Lost dogs are taken there by police or dog wardens..

Thanx everyone. As you can imagine i have rang dog wardens, kennels etc. I have also walked the full length of the river which is around 10 miles, twice. I find it hard to believe no-one has seen him as he so large. I'm worried that a farmer has shot him but i have spoken to the gamekeeper and he assures me they haven't, though they did see him on friday. Do i believe them though? I'm not sure. I can't put into words how wounded i am.

Don't despair. One of mine was lost for eighteen days. She turned up, back home,covered in mud and with assorted infections,but she's fine now. We'd given her up for dead days before.!

Hi,

Just to let you all know, i found Franky this morning. He was still down the river. He has lost weight, his coat is a mess and his pads are cut to bits, but he's home, safe and sound.
So happy. Thanx to everyone that showed concern, it is appreciated.

What a relief, so pleased he is home. To the person who said about putting posters up being flyposting, well I am afraid I would take my chance if it meant getting my dog back.
