My 11 month old terror sleeps with his eyes open, is this the norm ? or is he playing dead to get attention lol

Wouldn't say it was the norm, but I had a moggie once who would go into a sort of trance, just stopped, eyes open, but completely unaware of anything going on around him. Vet said it was a form of mild brain seizure, harmless, but untreatable. Might have been harmless indoors, but lethal in the middle of crossing the road!! Lived to a ripe old age, 13, if I recall.
I have had two dogs (unrelated) who have slept with their eyes open which is unnerving to say the least. Our current boy who does it just has them open but our first dog used to roll his so only the whites were visible which looked really gross
